Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X has been hospitalised following a sudden onset of partial facial paralysis. The 26-year-old rapper, known for hits like “Old Town Road” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” shared a candid video from his hospital bed on April 14, revealing he had lost control over the right side of his face.
In the video, Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, attempted to smile, expressing frustration over his inability to do so. He captioned the clip, “Soooo lost control of the right side of my face,” prompting an outpouring of concern and well-wishes from fans and fellow celebrities. Actress Taraji P. Henson commented, “Get well baby,” while comedian Wanda Sykes added, “Sometimes your body tells you to sit down somewhere. Rest up.”
Despite the alarming symptoms, Lil Nas X maintained his trademark humor and optimism. In subsequent Instagram Stories, he reassured fans, stating, “Guys I am OK!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur ass for me instead!” He acknowledged that he might “look funny for a lil bit” but emphasized that he was otherwise fine.
Medical experts and fans have speculated that the rapper’s symptoms could be indicative of Bell’s palsy, a condition causing sudden weakness or paralysis on one side of the face. Others have drawn comparisons to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which similarly affects facial nerves. However, no official diagnosis has been confirmed.
This health scare comes amid a period of introspection for Lil Nas X, who recently released his EP “7 Days Before Dreamboy.” In interviews, he has expressed a desire to focus on authenticity and personal freedom in his music career. Despite referring to this phase as his “flop era,” the rapper’s resilience and transparency continue to resonate with fans worldwide.
As the music community rallies around him, fans eagerly await further updates on his recovery and return to the spotlight.
