Selena Gomez Reveals She Broke Out in a Rash After First Kiss with Benny Blanco

Pop star shares endearing story about the early days of her relationship

In a recent appearance on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, Selena Gomez opened up about an unexpected reaction she had during her first kiss with fiancé Benny Blanco. The singer and actress revealed that she was so nervous during the intimate moment that she developed a rash on her face.​

The memorable kiss occurred during their second date while playing the game We’re Not Really Strangers. As part of the game, they were prompted to take a selfie together. Gomez nestled against Blanco’s chest for the photo, leading to their first kiss. Blanco recounted, “I looked at her and said, ‘I gotta kiss this girl.’ I kissed her right away, and her heart started beating so quickly, and she started getting a rash on her face… she was so nervous.”

Gomez explained that the intense reaction stemmed from not having felt such strong emotions in a long time. “I’d been alone for about five years,” she shared. “With the exception of a few s****y dates here and there, but never felt that way.” She added, “So some kisses are for fun, and then when you feel something behind a kiss, it’s completely different.”

The couple, who confirmed their relationship in December 2023, announced their engagement a year later. Blanco proposed with a custom-designed marquise diamond ring, a nod to lyrics in their 2015 song “Good For You.”

Since then, Gomez and Blanco have continued to share glimpses of their relationship with fans, including their first joint album, I Said I Loved You First, released in March 2025.
