In a candid interview with Spanish newspaper El País, Jennifer Lopez shared how she navigated the difficult conversation with her 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme, regarding her divorce from Ben Affleck. Lopez, who finalized her divorce in January 2025 after filing in August 2024, emphasized the importance of honesty and reassurance during this challenging time.
“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that, and I did it,” Lopez recounted. She expressed pride in how her children have grown stronger as a result of the experience.
Lopez also reflected on her personal journey post-divorce, highlighting her commitment to self-improvement through therapy, meditation, and reading. “I read a lot of books on childhood, marriage, relationships, different styles of love, the brain, science… It’s all about learning about yourself,” she noted.
Despite the end of their marriage, Lopez and Affleck have maintained a strong bond with each other’s children. At the premiere of Affleck’s film The Accountant 2, both families showed unity, with Affleck praising Lopez as “spectacular” and affirming their ongoing, positive relationship.
Lopez’s openness about her divorce and its impact on her family offers insight into the complexities of navigating personal challenges in the public eye. Her emphasis on growth, resilience, and family unity resonates with many facing similar life transitions.
