Michael Jackson Biopic Delayed: Extended Version Now Expected in 2027
The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, titled Michael, has been delayed once again. Initially slated for release in 2025, the film’s extended version is now expected to premiere in 2027.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, Michael stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, in the lead role. The film aims to chronicle the life and career of the King of Pop, from his early days with the Jackson 5 to his solo success.
The delay is attributed to several factors, including the film’s extensive runtime of over three and a half hours. Lionsgate, the studio behind the project, is considering splitting the biopic into two parts to accommodate the wealth of material. Additionally, legal complications have necessitated significant reshoots, further pushing back the release date.
While the exact release date remains unconfirmed, Lionsgate has indicated that the film will not debut before April 2026, with the extended version likely arriving in 2027. Fans eagerly awaiting the biopic will need to exercise patience as the filmmakers work to deliver a comprehensive portrayal of Michael Jackson’s life.
