Producer and hitmaker Benny Blanco has shared a surprising confession: performing live is something he dreads. During a June 3 appearance on the Hot Hits with Nic & Loren podcast, the 37-year-old admitted that stepping onto a stage feels more like a chore than a challenge.
“That’s like my worst nightmare … Doing live shows, like, anytime I had to do SNL or AMAs I’m always just like, ‘When’s it over? When’s it over?’ … I just want to be home on my couch.”
Blanco was discussing whether he’d tour behind his collaborative album with fiancée Selena Gomez — I Said I Love You First (released March 2025). His answer? Unmistakably a no. He prefers the comfort of his own living room over bright lights and big crowds.
Podcast host Loren even joked about a “couch tour,” where Blanco could lounge relaxed while Gomez performs — a suggestion he amusedly said “is not a bad idea”.
Behind the hits is a homebody: Known for crafting chart-toppers, Blanco’s candor shows a different side — someone who’d rather stay in than star on stage.
Creative focus: Instead of touring, he’s choosing to channel his energy into producing. With Gomez and other artists, that means more music for us to look forward to.
I Said I Love You First continues gaining traction, with fans drawn to its heartfelt narrative — born from the couple’s real-life relationship.
No live tour in sight, but expect Blanco to stay busy in the studio — and maybe we’ll hear him on a couch cameo during an acoustic performance yet.
Keep tuning in to Radio 854 as we follow Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez’s journey — both in the studio and in life.
