Cardi B, the Bronx-born rap powerhouse, is stepping away from the drama. In a candid Apple Music 1 interview with Zane Lowe, she reflected on years of high-profile feuds with younger female rappers — hinting that the conflicts influenced the title of her forthcoming album, Am I the Drama?
“I’m sick of it,” Cardi admitted, describing the endless back-and-forth as draining. She compared herself to a high school “senior” being challenged by “sophomores” — a context that underscores her frustration with ongoing rivalries that distract from her artistry.
She continued by pondering whether drama chases her or if she is the drama, acknowledging the double-edged nature of her spotlight — while it brings immense success, it also invites conflict. “That light might bother people … maybe it’s too bright, it’s too loud,” she said.
Cardi went further during a March 2024 X Spaces session, emphatically stating, “I’m so done with it… I’m done with the arguing… I’m not going back-and-forth no more on Instagram… on records or nothing.” She even challenged anyone with an issue to handle it face-to-face, saying, “If anybody want to see me, they can fight me.”
These remarks mark a deliberate shift in Cardi’s public persona — embracing self-awareness and putting an end to prolonged feuds. With Am I the Drama? on the way, it seems Cardi is ready to focus back on music — not chaos.
