Pop’s rising star Chappell Roan is riding high on the success of her debut — but fans hoping for a quick follow-up may be in for a long wait.
In a recent interview, the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer revealed that she doesn’t plan to release her second album anytime soon. In fact, Roan boldly predicted it could take “at least five years” before the next record arrives.
“I’m not rushing it,” she said. “I want to live more life, tour, grow, and create something that’s even more unapologetically me. That takes time.”
Her 2023 debut The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess gained a passionate fanbase for its bold lyrics, theatrical flair, and queer pop anthems. Since then, Roan’s star has only continued to rise, with sold-out shows and appearances at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella.
While some fans were disappointed by the long timeline, many praised her commitment to artistry over speed.
Roan added that she’s constantly writing and experimenting with new sounds but isn’t putting pressure on herself to stick to traditional album cycles.
“I’m not interested in chasing trends or streaming numbers,” she said. “I want to make something timeless — and that takes as long as it takes.”
Until then, fans can look forward to more live performances and potential one-off singles — but don’t expect Midwest Princess 2.0 just yet.
