November 27, 2025 – Radio 854 Music News:
Pop superstar Katy Perry has officially won a major court battle over a long-running property dispute, securing $1.8 million in damages from 85-year-old disabled war veteran Carl Westcott.
The conflict began in 2020, when Perry and her partner at the time, Orlando Bloom, purchased a $15 million Montecito mansion from Westcott. Shortly after the sale, Westcott attempted to rescind the deal, claiming he had been mentally impaired due to heavy pain medication following surgery.
After years of testimony, hearings, and emotional statements from both sides, the court ruled that Westcott was legally competent when he signed the contract — making the sale valid.
Perry argued that the lengthy legal fight caused her significant financial loss, including:
Missed rental income because the property couldn’t be used during the dispute
Repair costs, claiming the home suffered neglect and damage throughout the process
While she initially sought around $5 million, the judge awarded $1.8 million in compensation.
The ruling has sparked debate online. Supporters say Perry was simply enforcing a legal contract, while critics argue the situation put a wealthy celebrity against an elderly, sick veteran in an unfair fight.
Despite the public scrutiny, the court’s decision brings the five-year battle to a close, officially placing the estate — and now financial victory — in Perry’s hands.
