Kelly Clarkson’s New Single “Where Have You Been” Draws Inspiration from ‘Only Murders in the Building’
Kelly Clarkson, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, has unveiled her latest single, “Where Have You Been,” a track inspired by the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. The song, released globally on May 2, captures the essence of unexpected love, drawing from a poignant moment between characters Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Loretta Durkin (Meryl Streep) in the show’s fourth season.
Clarkson shared that the inspiration struck while watching a scene where Oliver, in awe, asks Loretta, “Where have you been?” This line resonated with her, leading to the creation of a song that celebrates the joy of discovering something—or someone—you thought was a myth.
A devoted fan of the series, Clarkson previously collaborated with cast member Steve Martin on her 2023 album Chemistry, where he played banjo on the track “I Hate Love.” The lyrics humorously reference Martin’s 2009 film It’s Complicated, further showcasing Clarkson’s connection to the show’s stars.
“Where Have You Been” marks Clarkson’s first non-holiday release since Chemistry and is available on her SiriusXM channel, The Kelly Clarkson Connection, as well as major streaming platforms. The track not only highlights her musical versatility but also her ability to find inspiration in contemporary storytelling.
For fans of Only Murders in the Building and Clarkson alike, this song offers a melodic tribute to the unexpected romances that captivate our screens and hearts.
Tune in to Radio 854 to catch “Where Have You Been” and explore more stories where music meets television magic.
