Kesha Launches SMASH: A New Platform Empowering Music Creators
Pop icon Kesha has unveiled SMASH, a groundbreaking platform designed to revolutionize the music industry by empowering artists. Announced on May 22, 2025, SMASH aims to provide a community-driven space where music creators can connect, collaborate, and retain full rights to their work.
Described as a blend of LinkedIn and Fiverr for musicians, SMASH offers a marketplace for artists to hire and be hired, fostering direct collaboration without traditional industry gatekeeping. Kesha, who co-founded the platform alongside CTO Alan Cannistraro and COO Lagan Sebert, emphasized the importance of shifting the power structure in favor of creators. Reflecting on her own experiences, she stated, “I signed a predatory deal when I was 18 and then spent more than a decade fighting to regain rights to my voice and image. When I finally gained my freedom, I realized the fight wasn’t over. I want to make sure what happened to me never happens to anyone else again.”
To celebrate the launch, Kesha is inviting creators to participate in an exclusive remix challenge for her new single, “BOY CRAZY.” Participants can sign up at smashmusic.io to receive the song’s stems and submit their remixes. The best remix will be personally selected by Kesha and officially released on Kesha Records later this summer.
SMASH is currently in development, with a focus on building a safe and supportive community for artists. By eliminating traditional barriers and promoting direct collaboration, Kesha envisions SMASH as a platform that truly serves the needs of music creators.
