Miley Cyrus Admits She Felt Like a ‘Misfit’ at the 2025 Met Gala
By Radio 854 Staff | June 3, 2025
Pop superstar Miley Cyrus may have turned heads on the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala, but behind the glitz and glamour, the singer says she felt completely out of place.
In a candid moment during a post-Gala interview, Cyrus opened up about her experience at fashion’s biggest night. Despite her bold Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble—an edgy fusion of punk and vintage Hollywood—Miley revealed she struggled to connect with the elite crowd.
“I felt like a misfit,” she shared. “I’ve grown up in this industry, but sometimes these events make me feel like I’m back in high school, trying to find the right table to sit at.”
The 2025 Met Gala, themed “The Garden of Time”, was filled with haute couture, surreal florals, and plenty of dramatic flair. While fans praised Miley’s outfit on social media for its fearless originality, the singer hinted that she prefers more grounded spaces.
“I’m not great at small talk or pretending to be something I’m not,” she said. “I admire the creativity and the fashion, but I don’t always feel like I belong in that world.”
Known for her outspoken nature and genre-defying music, Cyrus has always embraced her individuality, from her Disney Channel days to her rock-infused recent albums. Her honesty struck a chord with fans, many of whom applauded her for being real about the emotional disconnect such high-profile events can bring.
One fan commented on X (formerly Twitter), “Miley being vulnerable about the Met Gala makes me love her even more. She’s always authentic, no matter the setting.”
Despite her feelings of awkwardness, Cyrus took the opportunity to spotlight up-and-coming designer talent and support her creative collaborators. “I show up for the people who believe in me and for the chance to push boundaries,” she added.
As Radio 854 continues spinning Miley’s hits—from “Flowers” to her latest single—you can be sure we’re celebrating the artist not just for her music, but for always keeping it real.
