Miley Cyrus has announced her upcoming visual album, “Something Beautiful,” signaling a bold and experimental shift in her musical journey. Drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd’s iconic 1979 album “The Wall,” Cyrus aims to blend profound thematic elements with contemporary pop culture aesthetics.
In a recent interview, Cyrus described the project as “hypnotizing and glamorous,” emphasizing its conceptual nature designed to “medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.” She expressed a desire to serve as a “human psychedelic,” impacting listeners on a deeper, vibrational level.
The visual aspect of the album plays a pivotal role, with Cyrus noting that it “is driving the sound.” She highlighted the importance of each song possessing “healing sound properties,” presenting themes like destruction, heartbreak, or death in a manner that reveals inherent beauty. Cyrus believes that even the darkest experiences contribute to the contrast necessary for a complete artistic expression.
Collaborating closely with her partner, musician Maxx Morando, Cyrus has infused personal elements into the album. Morando has been instrumental in producing several tracks and co-writing the title song. Cyrus reflected on her history of working with loved ones, stating, “I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
The album also draws visual inspiration from high-fashion archives, notably Thierry Mugler’s 1995 couture show, and cinematic works like the 1982 surrealist musical drama, “Pink Floyd: The Wall.” Cyrus envisions the project as a modern take on “The Wall,” but with “a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”
While an official release date has yet to be announced, “Something Beautiful” is slated for release in 2025. Fans eagerly anticipate this innovative endeavor, which promises to offer a unique auditory and visual experience, reflecting Cyrus’s evolution as an artist unafraid to explore new creative territories.
