️ Pop Star Olivia Rodrigo Slams Trump-Era Immigration Raids on L.A. — “This Isn’t the America I Want to See”
By Radio 854 News Staff
June 16, 2025
Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo is known for wearing her heart on her sleeve when it comes to her music—but now, the “Vampire” and “Drivers License” hitmaker is turning her voice to politics. In a powerful social media post over the weekend, the Los Angeles native condemned recent revelations about Trump-era immigration raids that disproportionately affected immigrant families across the greater L.A. area.
“This isn’t the America I want to see,” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram. “Families deserve safety, not fear. No one should live with the constant threat of being torn away from the people they love.”
The statement came in response to a new report detailing aggressive ICE operations during former President Trump’s administration—many of which were concentrated in Latino and Asian immigrant neighborhoods. Rodrigo, who proudly celebrates her Filipino heritage, said the issue hits close to home.
“My grandparents came to this country to build a better life,” she said. “Their story—and stories like theirs—deserve to be honored, not targeted.”
Fans and fellow artists quickly rallied behind Rodrigo, praising her for using her platform to advocate for immigrant communities. Hashtags like #ImmigrantsAreAmerica and #WeStandWithOlivia began trending on social media within hours.
Rodrigo has spoken about identity and politics before, including at her concerts and in past interviews. But this marks one of her most direct criticisms of policies from the Trump era.
Though Trump has not directly responded, the statement adds to growing celebrity pushback around immigration enforcement practices that many advocates say caused lasting harm.
At Radio 854, we’re always tuned in to what our artists are passionate about—on and off the stage. Olivia’s message is a reminder that pop stars aren’t just performers—they’re people who care deeply about justice, community, and the future of the country they call home.
