Music Community Rallies Around Josh Freese After Foo Fighters Exit

After nearly two years behind the drum kit for Foo Fighters, Josh Freese has officially parted ways with the legendary rock band — and support from fellow musicians has been pouring in.

Freese, a veteran drummer known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, and The Vandals, joined Foo Fighters in 2023 following the passing of beloved drummer Taylor Hawkins. His presence brought stability and energy to the band during a deeply emotional chapter, helping them navigate their comeback tour and album But Here We Are.

Following the announcement of his departure, social media lit up with tributes and messages from artists across genres. Dave Grohl praised Freese in a heartfelt post, calling him “a brother in rhythm and spirit” and thanking him for “carrying us forward when we needed it most.”

Other stars chimed in as well. Travis Barker wrote, “Josh is one of the best to ever do it — always solid, always humble.” Meanwhile, Hayley Williams of Paramore added, “He’s a real one. Foo Fighters were lucky to have him, and so are the rest of us.”
