March 13, 2026 – Radio 854 Music News:
Pop star Zara Larsson has addressed long-running rumours that she was once invited to join the American girl group Fifth Harmony.
The Swedish singer spoke about the speculation during a recent interview, clarifying that while the story has circulated online for years, it isn’t exactly true.
According to Larsson, she was never formally asked to become a member of the chart-topping group, which originally consisted of Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane and Camila Cabello. The band rose to global fame after finishing third on The X Factor (U.S.) in 2012 and later scored major hits such as Work From Home and Worth It.
Larsson explained that the rumour likely started after discussions about collaborations and industry connections were taken out of context. While she said she respects the group and their success, joining the band was never something that actually happened behind the scenes.
The “Lush Life” singer added that she has always been focused on building her own career as a solo artist. Since breaking through internationally, Larsson has released several successful singles and albums, becoming one of Sweden’s biggest global pop exports.
Although the idea of Larsson joining the group sparked plenty of fan curiosity over the years, she made it clear that it remained nothing more than speculation.
Fifth Harmony went on hiatus in 2018 so members could focus on their solo careers, while Larsson has continued releasing new music and touring worldwide.
For fans, the revelation finally puts an end to one of pop music’s most persistent “what if” rumours.
