Grammy-winning rapper Doechii has made it clear: when it comes to defending her name, she won’t hesitate to speak up online. In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, the Anxiety hitmaker explained that while she avoids constant back-and-forths on social media, there are moments when standing up for herself is necessary.
“Am I going to be constantly online responding? No, that’s not something I like to practice,” she said. “But I do 100 percent believe that there are times and places to defend myself. If that happens to be through the internet, then maybe.”
This approach was evident earlier this year when Doechii faced accusations of lip-syncing during her high-energy performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards. She quickly shut down the rumors, clarifying that any vocal overlap came from her DJ covering lines during complex choreography. “That entire performance was live!” she emphasized, adding that she was battling both bronchitis and the flu at the time.
Doechii’s unapologetic stance is rooted in her upbringing. Growing up in Florida, she often felt like an outsider and had to learn to defend herself early on. “I was this weird girl… and so it made me a target and it made me have to learn how to defend myself,” she shared in a past interview.
Now, as one of hip-hop’s most dynamic voices, Doechii continues to challenge norms and protect her artistry—whether on stage or online.
