Ringo Starr plotting EP to complete ‘Long Long Road’ country era
Ringo Starr is not quite done with his country chapter just yet. The legendary former The Beatles drummer is reportedly planning a companion EP to “wrap up” the musical journey he began with his recent country-inspired album Long Long Road.
Sources close to the project say Starr has been back in the studio in Nashville, working on a handful of new tracks that didn’t make the original album cut—but still fit the record’s laid-back, rootsy vibe. Rather than letting those songs sit unreleased, the 84-year-old musician is keen to give fans a final piece of the puzzle.
The EP is expected to feature collaborations with a mix of seasoned country players and younger artists, continuing Starr’s long-standing love affair with the genre. While best known for his rock legacy, Starr has frequently leaned into country influences throughout his solo career, dating back to early releases like Beaucoups of Blues.
In recent interviews, Starr hinted that Long Long Road was always envisioned as more than just a single release. The idea of a follow-up EP, he suggested, allows him to “finish the story properly” and keep the creative momentum going without committing to a full-length sequel.
Fans can expect the same easygoing charm, warm instrumentation, and storytelling that defined the album—along with a few surprises. There’s also talk that the EP could arrive sooner rather than later, potentially dropping later this year.
Despite decades in the industry, Starr shows no signs of slowing down. Between new music, touring with his All-Starr Band, and ongoing collaborations, he continues to prove that his creative spark is very much alive.
For Radio 854 listeners, the message is clear: the “Long Long Road” isn’t over yet—it’s just taking one more scenic detour.
