The Belfast-based rap trio Kneecap has officially canceled their highly anticipated, sold-out 15-date U.S. tour scheduled for October 2025. The decision stems from the close timing of band member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh—known as Mo Chara—returning to court in London on a terrorism-related charge. His next hearing is set for September 26, just days before the tour launch, making it logistically impossible for the group to proceed with their U.S. dates.
Mo Chara faces charges under the U.K.’s Terrorism Act related to an alleged display of a Hezbollah flag during a London performance in November 2024. The band denies any support for Hezbollah or Hamas, attributing the incident to a flag being thrown onto the stage accidentally.
In a media statement on social platforms, Kneecap called the charges a “witch-hunt”, denouncing what they see as politically motivated prosecution aimed at silencing their activism—especially regarding Gaza and broader humanitarian issues.
While the U.S. tour has been completely scrapped, Kneecap confirmed that their scheduled performances in Canada—two dates each in Toronto and Vancouver—will go ahead as planned.
The group also teased a special surprise for their U.S. fanbase set for release in October, aiming to maintain a connection with their audience during this legal hiatus.
They’ve vowed to come back “with an even bigger tour” once the legal matter is resolved.
Kneecap has been a lightning rod for debate across Europe and beyond, known for their politically charged lyrics, Gaelic-language artistry, and outspoken solidarity with Palestine. Their canceled U.S. tour underscores the intersection of art, political activism, and legal boundaries in today’s geopolitical climate.
